Boolean operations are used to combine two or more objects into a single object. These operations include adding, subtracting, intersecting and dilating.
- Addition: To add two objects together you need to select both of them and then click on the “Add” button in 3D Studio Max. This will create an empty plane between them which can be used for further processing (such as extruding).

Loft By Splines and Extrude By Splines
This technique is used to create objects that have a gentle slope and are not too steep. It can be used to create various shapes such as cylinders, cones, spheres and other similar geometric shapes. The shape you want to create is drawn on a plane or flat surface in 3D Studio Max (Spline Surface). You will then need to select the Spline tool from the UI bar along with your cursor pointing at this spline surface where you want it placed upon creating another instance of it inside your scene by pressing ‘Space’ key or click on any empty space inside your scene where there is no object present yet but only open spaces available for placing new things into them. After placing this new instance onto top of another object such as sphere so that both become one single entity which we call “Extrude By Spline” because now our original shape has been extruded outwards towards infinity without any limit at all!
Material Editor and Materials Types
