Intro to Photoshop

Photoshop is a great program for photo editing, graphic design and web page creation. It has many features that make it a complex program to learn.

Photoshop is available in several versions: CS4 (Creative Suite 4), CS5 (Creative Suite 5) and CC (Creative Cloud). Each version has its own learning curve and features, so you should consider which one you need before buying any version of Photoshop.

Adjusting Colors and Lighting

One of the most important aspects of image manipulation is adjusting the color and lighting in an image.

There are five basic tools used to adjust color balance: RGB, Hue/Saturation, Color Balance and Levels. The first three are often referred to as “color wheels.”

RGB stands for red-green-blue; it lets you adjust each color separately by moving sliders around on a particular layer or by using eyedropper tool (which allows you to sample a specific area of your picture). The HSL (Hue/Saturation) tool lets you adjust both hue (color) and saturation at once while keeping everything else constant through its formula field located under HSB dials icon at top right corner of Toolbar panel where we can define how much darker or lighter we want our current selection i

Working with Layers, Masks and Channels

Layers are like transparent sheets of acetate. You can stack them on top of each other, and they allow you to mask parts of them. When you have multiple layers in Photoshop, they’re referred to collectively as the “layers” panel (or Layer Selections).

You can use layers for pretty much everything: making a mask by painting with the transparency tool; adding effects like patterns or textures; isolating colors using channels; etc., but there are some things that we’ll cover later on in this course about working with masks and channels specifically!

Applying Effects and Filters

The filter menu is a set of tools that can be applied to the image. Effects are applied to the entire image and filters are applied to a selection of it, so you’ll want to use them in different situations.

For example: if you’re adding an effect and want it to be applied only over part of your photo, use “select” rather than “apply.” If you want all effects from one filter set (like “HDR”), choose that option from their dropdown menu instead of selecting multiple sets separately through the filter menus themselves.

Retouching Images

In this section, you will learn how to retouch images using the following tools:

  • Healing brushes
  • Clone stamp tool
  • Content aware fill feature

Photoshop is a great program for photo editing.

Photoshop is the most popular photo editing software in the world. It’s used by many professionals, both amateur and professional photographers.

Photoshop can be used to improve photos by fixing issues such as overexposed or underexposed images, fixing color problems like blown highlights or shadows, removing blemishes or spots from your image (like a scratch), adjusting contrast between different parts of an image (such as darkening one part while lightening another), sharpening edges so they look more defined than they would without this feature turned on), removing noise from an image (which tends to happen when you take photos outside during low-light conditions)
